"Letting Go" is very fine work. The simplicity of the dulcimer soundtrack is dear. It guides the visual message along perfectly." Singer/Songwriter/Storyteller David Massengill

On the 4th anniversary of his father's passing, my cousin posted a picture of his father doing what he loved, and what they loved to do together. Fishing. The decades old picture, and his simple words," I miss him every day," told a story that begged to be put to music that I hoped would help him let go of the grief he still felt. Catch and release. Let go of that fish, let go of your grief. I thought I could write a good lyric around that. I couldn't find the words. The feelings were too deep.
A few weeks later, I was "noodling"around "with a melody on my dulcimer as I thought of the picture and words and I found it.
What I had wanted so badly to express in words, I found in a melody. As I listened to the recording of what I had done I felt at peace, at least for a while, and I felt relief from those things that were a burden to me. I hoped it would do the same for David.
My hope is that as people
listen to the song, they will close their eyes and for those four minutes, just release whatever it is they need to let go of.
Carolyn Brodginski

Seat Of Our Pants (SOOP) was born in a coffee house called, " Higher Grounds." While Higher Grounds has closed its doors,SOOP has not and has recently added Mike Frantzen on fiddle, raising their range of music to a higher level. The other members of the band; Carolyn Brodginski, performs vocals, plays guitar, mandolin and mountain dulcimer, Jeff Gorman, plays bass and harmonica and Mark Hall, vocals and cajon/percussion. The band refers to their music as, Acoustic Contemporary Folk." I think their original songs, unique arrangements of cover songs and tight vocal harmonies are a style of music that does not easily fit a particular genre. From their humble beginnings and start from an open-mic at Higher Grounds they have attracted a word of mouth following in Connecticut that continues to grow and as a fan I look forward to moore from SOOP.
The song,'Letting Go," is one track from their second album called "Higher Ground." The album is a tribute to Higher Grounds that is filled with original songs and a few covers which once again will surprise their fans and listeners. The album will be released in December. -David Gallipoli
