Light-Filled Meditations
Thy light alone-
Gives grace and truth to life's unquiet dream.
-Percy Bysshe Shelly, Hymn to Intellectual Beauty.

The minute you understand light, you're also then tapping into the transience of temporality itself.
-John Akomfrah CBE

Imagine a world in which there is no time. Only images.
-Alan Lightman, Einstein's Dreams

The master photographers, Dutch painters of the Golden Age, the French and American impressionist painters, tonalists, and abstract painters influenced the way I see light and color. One, in particular, is J.M.W.Turner, one of Britain's most celebrated artists, who said, " Light is therefore color. "
If Ansel Adams helped me understand the tonal range in Black and White, then J.M.W. Turner's watercolors, with his energetic brushwork, but lack of detail and how he blended radiant light into color inspired me to capture the atmosphere, natural veils of color, and the sublime of the landscape in the West.
One needs only the time to be present when nature reveals its light.
