From The West With Love
My dream of working and living in the West has finally become a reality. I love sharing the beauty of the West by capturing what I see through the viewfinder of my camera.
As with many young people, my love of the West started with western movies. What caught my attention was the vastness, the diverse landscapes, snow-capped mountains, prairies, rivers, and high mountain lakes.
My first trip to the West was to Colorado with a friend after graduating from high school. Years later, a fishing trip to Montana with another friend and my dad. Over the past few decades, I kept coming back exploring Montana and other parts of the West, sometimes alone or with family and friends. But I was smitten with Montana, my first love, I suppose, and the belief that this was "The Last Best Place."
I wonder that by showing only the beauty of the West that I love if I am creating an illusion that all is well in the West? The photographs that I rarely share of the destruction and unprecedented growth taking place here is another reality and concern. We are all aware and reminded of the daily news reports of the speed at which we are destroying our planet.
I hope that by showing the beauty of my piece of the world, the West, that we will all make the tough decisions and find the solutions to preserve, protect, and share this beauty with future generations.
